Looking for work to do.

I am trying to get into this field of translating Turkish to English or English to Turkish, i do not know where to start exactly and i decided to post it in here and give it a shot. I was born in Turkey and have been living in Houston, TX for 10 years now. This is something i could easily do and i am willing to do it as a full-time job from home.

If any of you have a suggestion on how to start my work doing this, please feel free to let me know.

A basic rule for aspiring translators: Be pro-active and do your own research! Don't expect us to do it for you. I suggest you explore other areas on ProZ and learn about the business. Above all, you must be patient. Jobs will (generally) not fall into your lap, and there's plenty of competition out there. Just knowing 2 languages is no guarantee that you will be successful - or even good - as a translator. It's a highly skilled profession that can be very satisfying/rewarding if it suits you, and you suit it.
