As a PC technician (this is one of my hobbies) I would suggest first of all the following:

* Get more RAM since RAM improves performance. 1,5 - 2 GB should be perfect for a Pentium 4.
* Upgrade your computer with a better processor or a new system = I'd recommend at least a Pentium 4 (or newer) or AMD Athlon XP 3100 (or newer_


All the other stuff won't be important then.
