if we all replied like that to requests for our best rate (never mind all-time best rate). Maybe we should start an All-Time Best Rate movement.

"My all-time best rate is 30 cents per word. But for you, lucky man/woman, 15 cents per word."

My best rate ever was 50 Euros (plus VAT) for a one word job.
But it was a PR slogan, and I offered the client a number of alternatives and explanations - so at the end of the job, I actually wondered whether I had undercharged the client.
