I know in The United States we get paid for the interpreter work hourly but the translation companies don't take commision fees. They just charge a higher interpreter services fee to the client and we usually share the earnings for the interpretation assignment.

Your prompt answer will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Interpreting rates Apr 25, 2011

Hi,

I work in Spain and working for different agencies I always get the entire fee that we have agreed on. So, I guess that the agency adds its own benefit on top to charge the end client. So far and working during the last 6 years I have never had to pay any commissions to the agency.

But, I do not see any problems in paying some percentage to the agency either. At least this way you can set the price.

Hope it helps.

Best,
Mahsa

Hi Miss Homayounfar,

Thanks for responding to my forum posting.

The CEO of the agency told me that this was the commission charged by the "Association of Conference Interpreters Of Spain"AICE (Asociación de Intérpretes de Conferencias de España)

Can you please help me to verify is this is really truth?

Thank you so much for your help.

Let me know if I can be helpful to you from The United States.
