IMO, her points of view perhaps could serve as a valid snapshot and a fair and succinct assessment of China's society today. Incidentally, one topic touched upon in the interview was the noticeable exception to the rule of women's high level of equality in China when compared to many of the other societies. As we baby boomers all know, this was one of the great achievements and legacies from the Mao era. I'm somewhat surprised yet very glad to hear that it hasn't fallen by the wayside.

Her understanding of the inner workings of Mainland China seems quite impressive too. The clip, however, did mention her growing up in the slums of HK and working there in a garment factory as a teen; so I mistakenly assumed that she resided in HK.
Anyway, she also strikes me as someone intelligent, well-spoken, and professional.

Steve,
The wild fire in Fourmile Canyon of Boulder County is now 87% contained and is predicted to be 100% contained this evening. This is one of the worst fires in Colorado state history. So far, 10 square miles have been burned and 166 homes have been destroyed. It is true that, a few days ago, residents living near the canyons in Boulder city were told to prepare for possible evacuations from their homes. I will call you when I am back to Austin.
