Bio
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile! I'm a freelance French-English translator of British nationality but living in France, and I specialize in scientific and technical translation. I have a slightly unusual background for this job - I am qualified to postgraduate level in Applied Physics and Communications Engineering, and I used to be an aerospace systems engineer. But science isn't the whole story with me. I've always loved languages and writing too, and I've spent nearly a decade living in France and studying in the French education system. I also have 22 months' professional experience as an in-house translator of engineering and physics patents, including certified translations.

With an academic and professional background like mine, specializing in scientific/technical translations was an obvious choice. I have a good grasp of many areas of science, and an exceptional level of familiarity with physics, engineering I.T. and mathematics terminology and concepts. However, I am also happy to translate material from a wide range of other subject areas.

In the last month, for instance, I translated scientific patents, technical specifications and safety documentation for aerospace and automotive companies, legal correspondence for a private client and a catalogue for an international jewellery brand. I am always looking to build on my skills and was recently pleased to acquire a certificate of translating competence from a major engineering company (I prefer not to mention the names of my clients in this profile for confidentiality's sake, but I will be delighted to provide further details to serious potential customers.)

With a daily output of around 5000 words I provide a fast and reliable service and am a skilled user of both Trados 2017 and server-based MemoQ. To top it all off I offer very competitive rates, so why not get in touch?

Thanks again for reading!
Daisy.
