Brainstorming is not only a means of training but also a very objective mens of testing prospective interpreters for simulteneous interpreting skills. Of course, there should be elaborated possibly acceptable mens of the evaluation of brainstorming which requires stability of NERVOUS SYSTEM and cannot be used the studnet is examined by a medical doctor; for psychologically unstable students brainstorming can be ruinous. A forcefull attack directed toward a badly prepared student may provoke depression, a nervous breakdown or even a more serious injury to one's psyche. Every prospective interpreter should consult a psychologist if any psychological instability occurs. ▲ Collapse

Hi,
Not sure if you talk about brainstorming understood as "a group creativity technique designed to generate a large number of ideas for the solution to a problem." (Wikipedia). Is there any other meaning of "brainstorming"?

The matter is that the actual meaning of the brainstorming is the one you mentioned; I mean by the brainstorming ' a monteous subconscious brisk reaction of the brain function of the future interpreter' to a task (a word, a term, a phrase) which relies on the previous training, background and preparation: it could be a kind of a test on a certain topic or just a proficiency test of the interpreter's skills as such.
