Thank you, Thomas!
agree lexical : yes "appreciation" is the word, though "appreciation of the real" would avoid confusion between "real" (R$) and "real" (true).

Yes, lexical. It is true. But in a context I think real appreciation is comprehensible. Thanks a lot!
disagree jack_speak : I do not think real appreciation is comprehensible.

rise in value of the real

In my experience in this context "valorização" always refers to an increase in value of the currency in question, whereas in English valuation refers to the value of the currency in relation to another currency regardless of going up or down.
Example sentence:

The Assistant Director of the Small Firms Association, Avine McNally, has said that the SFA is increasingly concerned at the rise in value of the euro

the strengthening of the Brazilian Real

Strictly speaking, 'Real' shouldn't be capitalized. But if you don't it really looks like real. Really?
Example sentence:

" Without any doubt in the strengthening of the Brazilian Real, not only against the US dollar but also the Euro"

"However, exports are being affected by the strengthening of the Brazilian Real."
