MicroNet Plus the hardware platform chosen for this project With the MicroNet Plus 99.99% availability can be obtained by the dual CPU configuration. Upon a CPU failure, the control will transfer from the primary to the backup CPU without shutting down or damaging the prime mover. All I/O (including distributed I/O if utilized) will be accessible and controllable from the operating master CPU.

In the event of a CPU failure, the MicroNet Plus will transfer from primary to backup CPU without shutting down or damaging the prime mover. The backup CPU will take over control of the controlled device when, the primary CPU fails, or a user switchover request is made, or an application switchover request is made.
The switchover between primary and backup CPUs will be able to be performed at any time during normal control operation (during start and or stop sequences) without shutting down or damaging the prime mover.
