@All: I just spoke with the company president, Mr. Jack Kent. It turns out that many people in the company have Polish ancestors, so we spoke about Kosciuszko - the birth town Mr. Kent's mother - and other things such as Kosciuszko Uprising. The document was written by Chris Brightwell, who is no longer with the company; however, Mr. Kent says that "allies" is used in the sense of "related" and or "similar," not symbiotic or phylogenetic. Thank you all for the discussion.

W innym produkcie mamy takie zdanie:

Wynika z niego, że allies to organizmy pokrewne/gatunki pokrewne żyjące właśnie w symbiozie z zooksantellami, które w zamian za dostęp do światła, produkują składniki odżywcze, którymi żywią się z kolei bezkręgowce rafotwórcze.

Thank you all for the definition of ally. The question is whether the author of the text used the word "ally" in the phylogenetic sense or some other. I will call the manufacturer tomorrow. MVSD agrees with Mr. Błażej Rychlik.

@All Znalazłem definicje w Websterze, "a plant or animal linked to another by genetic or taxonomic proximity", czyli raczej wersja Błażeja niż Franka z zastrzeżeniem, że one muszą być pokrewne w jakiś sposób genetyczny.

Jeśli chodzi o symbionty, niestety to raczej nie będzie właściwe znaczenie tym razem:

Symbiont = an organism living in symbiosis; especially : the smaller member of a symbiotic pair (source: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/symbiont)

Ally = a plant, animal, or other organism bearing an evolutionary relationship to another, often as a member of the same family, e.g. The squash is an ally of the watermelon. (source: http://www.dictionary.com/browse/allies)

Na stronie coralhouse, "allies" tłumaczone jest jako "sojusznicy". Nie jestem jednak pewien, czy to właściwy termin po polsku (sojusznicy/sprzymierzeńcy) - nie znalazłem niestety innych źródeł...

Propozycja - w przykładzie chodzi o inne (niż wymienione) zwierzęta wykorzystujące aragonit do budowy skorup/domków. Nie musi być to pokrewieństwo filogenetyczne, ale także (a może nawet przede wszystkim) podobieństwo ekologiczne (inne osiadłe organizmy rafowe).
