An area designated Erhvervsområder (E) in the Municipal Plan.

"Light Industry"? or simply "Business District (or Zone)"?

Discussion

Charlesp (asker) May 27, 2015:
Thanks. It seems to me ... that this is zoning (and not a master plan area).
But it also seems to me that this is a fairly standard term that Danish municipalities use. Maybe I should have specified that this is from Helsingør.
TechLawDC May 27, 2015:
"industrial park" etc. are too narrow. "industrial park" etc. are too narrow, because they focus on "industry" rather than the broader term "business", which refers to all types of commercial activity.
Charlesp (asker) May 27, 2015:
quite simply within the zoning regulations Hi Pernille,
Quite simply it is a type of zone. i.e. within the zoning regulations
Pernille Kienle May 27, 2015:
More context please...

Commercial or industrial zoning

Industrial site

It depends whether you want US or UK English; my suggestion is much used in Great Britain.
Peer comment(s):

agree Adrian MM. (X) : if for UK (and CanE?) consumption

business districts

(I would not change the author's use of a plural.)
"erhverv-" does not mean "industrial" in my experience.

Wikipedia info re "industrial district" -- refers to manufacturing. Industrial district was initially introduced as a term to describe an area where workers of a monolithic heavy industry (ship-building, coal mining, steel, ceramics, etc.) live within walking-distance of their places of work. ... Within the study of economics, the term has evolved and now implies the ways in which economic specialisation arises through clustering in a particular industry-zoned urban area.
---
Wikipedia re "central business district": A central business district (CBD) is the commercial and business centre of a city. In larger cities, it is often synonymous with the city's "financial district".
