English term

land

English to Spanish Bus/Financial Finance (general) Manual for car sellers
The following words belong to a manual for car sellers, but I can't understand the meaning of "land" in a financial context to close a deal. Thank you in advance!

Credit application, approval, *** land *** and close

Discussion

Taña Dalglish Aug 27, 2015:
@ Natalia With all due respect, given the very little context Yaotl has provided, how you could reasonably deduce that it means to "land a deal"? Even if it were so, it would be an unusual phrasing in English, IMO! Saludos.
Natalia Pedrosa Aug 27, 2015:
It's not a typo to land a contract, a deal, etc., is to obtain it.
Rebecca Jowers Aug 27, 2015:
Hi Yaotl Could this be a typo? Should it say "loan" instead of "land". Then the sequence would make sense: "credit application", i.e., applying for a car loan; "approval" (of the loan); "loan"; and "close", i.e., closing the car sale. Just a thought...
Taña Dalglish Aug 27, 2015:
@ Yaotl Can't you provide more context than that? Regards.

obtención

Después de la aprobación del crédito viene la obtención del mismo y luego se cierra. Suerte.

neutral Jennifer Levey : 'obtención' corresponds, in Asker's context', to '(getting) approval'.
