They are talking about clinical trials of a new drug for cancer patients.

This is very good for chronic phase patients. Also, they have the possibility to rescue patients in accelarated or ***blast phase***

Sorry, I was mistaken. It is, in fact, a phase of leukemia.

I don't think this has anything to do with blast cells. It's about "blast and taper" - terms used in the administration of drugs. I don't remember the Spanish equivalents, though I have seen them in documents of this kind.

Yes Claire, it's about leukaemia, actually it's a transcription I'm working on and I can't really understand the Spanish, it says something like "fase sislástica" and then I read about blast phase, I'm wondering if it's the same thing since I can't understand the word in Spanish, maybe I can figure it out with the context. Thanks a million.

Blast phase: Refers to advanced chronic myelogenous leukemia. In this phase, the number of immature, abnormal white blood cells in the bone marrow and blood is extremely high. Also called blast crisis.

disagree slothm : La evolución de la leucemia pasa por varias fases, en la fase blástica se describe la crisis blástica. Lo que solicitan ser traducida es la fase no la crisis. El aporte es positivo ya que nos ubica mejor en el tema.
