French term

apurement [in context]

French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) taxes
This is the same sentence as my previous question:

Compte tenu de l’apurement des reports fiscaux déficitaires, le groupe supporte une charge d’impôt sur la période de 0,55 M€ (contre 0 au 1er semestre 2004 et un produit d’impôt de 0,70 M€ sur l’exercice 2004 du fait de l’activation des créances d’impôts différés).

I'm not sure how to phrase the opening. I think they are saying that all the carry-forwards have been used up, but does anyone have a better way of phrasing it?

Thanks again!

My understanding of the meaning is the same as yours, and I find "utilization" a very useful word for all sorts of deferred taxes and such! "offsetting" always leaves you with the problem: against what?
A quick Google of "utilization" with "tax loss carryforwards" throws up plenty of examples (particularly importantly, plenty of "direct" examples ie not translations into English).
