monitor data
Sounds like a Big-Brother-FBI-anti-terrorism-anti-industrial-espionage kind of monitoring of e-mail data

: I was thinking along the same lines. Would suggest monitor*ing* data, though... // I intended 'monitoring' to be read as an adjective ;-)

Also possible, however, I think there's a subtle difference in the sense of monitor*ing* data in real time and stored monitor data that could be investigated at a later time

Comment: "I used monitoring data in the end, as the client liked that translation. Thank you very much!"

header
The only thing I can think of is the "header" of an email. The header contains data about the path the email has followed to reach the recipient.

: Vreemd. Zou je dan de headers 6 maanden moeten bijhouden en de brieven in de prullenbak kieperen? Maar een andere verklaring heb ik helaas ook niet...

Klinkt inderdaad niet logisch. Ik denk dat jouw suggestie beter is.

To join visual data
I think can make reference to this in thos context.

: I'm *really* interested in your explanation for this one; for one, you're giving a verb as a translation for a noun//ik zal de laatste zijn om een letterlijke vertaling te eisen, maar ik kan de gedachtengang hier echt niet volgen

public data, event logs

email surveillance data/-email snooping data
see following link, and there many more for "meekijk" + Mail on Google that provide evidence of this equivalence.

Well, I agree that context is everything and probably should have put (e-mail snooping) in brackets since I wouldn't have suggested Northstar actually use this, but there is also a good analogy with "meeluisteren" which is used to translate the concept of "telephone surveillance" or "phone call monitoring". Oh, I know I had a late night but am I right that much of this site has been translated into Romanian :-)?

Also, Google gives us 61 million hits for e-mail surveillance and many of the links suggest that this has now become standard business practice. The surveillance is done by software, probably using regular expression tools, which is able to scan the e-mail and flag up significant content. The "meekijkgegens" would then be the data written to a log which a human would then review.

: Lijkt me onwaarschijnlijk dat het hier over hetzelfde begrip gaat. Maar zolang Northstar niet kan zeggen over welk mailprogramma het gaat, blijft het koffiedik kijken ...
