However, I've stopped to enter any projects last year. For one, I'm too busy to keep my Project History up-to-date , and second... the majority of my projects is included in my CV, and also available upon request... of course only with the permission of my clients and without any personal / company related information disclosed. | | | neilmac Испания Local time: 23:52 испанский => английский + ...
And I had to look up my profile to check.
in the hope they will increase my "findability" on the Internet and also to keep track of what I have been working on. I got into this habit and it just takes a second to record basic info. Maja

I made a new tab "Major Projects" that lists a selection of projects I've done so far that give prospective customers a good idea of the breadth and depth of what I can do. I also found I had 56 visitors since Feb 26 but not that many inquiries so I guess that only a small percentage found what they were looking for. I wonder where they all went? ![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_confused.gif) | | | David Young (X) Дания Local time: 23:52 датский => английский
... after reading Maja's response, I can see it could be a good idea. Another thing to go on my "To Do" list when I'm not so busy.![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_smile.gif)

I've been meaning to. It's a rainy day project, because I'm not actively looking for clients at this point. | | | DianeGM Local time: 00:52 Член ProZ.com c 2006 голландский => английский + ...
and I've never thought about doing it. I have WWA entries so I thought that would be sufficient. I am interested in the benefits others see from doing it though .....

I have a habit of sending updates to my clients on what I have been working on and my project history serves as an easy to use reference point, without having to look through the files, invoices etc. Maja
I have some WWA entries, I submitted several sample translations and I won a few translation contests, so, alike other colleagues, thought that was enough... @Julian: Me too, I would like that visitors translated into work! In my case: 226 visitors last month and yet all the work I received was from repeat clients. That leaves you exposed to poaching by cheaper providers. | | | Mario Chavez (X) Local time: 17:52 английский => испанский + ... Thoughtful responses | Oct 8, 2012 |
I suppose some translators find the Project History field very useful. I don't. Why? I never found a reason potent enough to drive me to use it. It's like having your CV posted on different websites...and maintaining them. Too much work. I depend much more on my LinkedIn profile to be found than on my Proz profile...which is gathering cobwebs. I get dozens of visits but no inquiries. It follows that I'll put my energies where I see a reason to. I don't see ... See more I suppose some translators find the Project History field very useful. I don't. Why? This is about where I am and it is a shame, as I have been able to reference this list to update my resume and answer specific questions from clients in the past. I am thinking of installing a placeholder entry so potential clients don't think I just stopped working a year ago . | | | Allison Wright (X) Португалия Local time: 22:52
I never entered anything under project history for reasons of confidentiality in most cases. I have also failed to update my sample translations since I joined Proz two years ago. I am sure I have some better ones around, but would need to clear these with clients, and I do not feel comfortable with having to put clients through this rather strange process. Most of the visits to my profile page come from other translators who I reckon have clicked on my photograph by mistake. I have had about 3 jobs from "cold call" visits to my profile page. All those were mere accidents of chance, on account of there not being too many De-En translators actually resident in Portugal. None of them asked me about my project history, although all received a CV and a confirmation from me that I felt capable of doing the job on offer. ▲ Collapse | | | Theo Bernards (X) Франция Local time: 23:52 английский => голландский + ... I operate under a strict non-disclosure principle and my customers value that very much. Confidentiality is the reason that I also don't actively chase for WWA entries, although I won't stop people from giving them (so far, nobody has - is that a bad sign or what ). Also, I fail to see how it can be important to know what I have done for other clients: all my clients want to know, is what I can do for them. There ar... Also, I fail to see how it can be important to know what I have done for other clients: all my clients want to know, is what I can do for them. There are two ways to discover the kind of work I can and cannot fulfil: one can ask me to do a short test of up to 250 words, or one can have a look at my website, which I keep up to date and where I provide an overview of the projects that I have participated in. No names & no product names of course, but it does give a fair idea of who I am, what I do and how I do it. Truth be told, I don't maintain my profile here or elsewhere that much, I merely keep hammering on my website, which I do maintain regularly. ▲ Collapse | | | Страниц в теме: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Do you have any entries in the "Project History" field of your ProZ.com profile?
