I am thinking of emphasizing more that I also offer MT post-editing, as an added service to clients who for budget reasons cannot afford a translator at my normal rates. At the moment I occasionally offer it to break the dead-lock in negotiations, but I am considering to offer it standard in my range of services. And as a small freelancer I am of course always open to assignments that have no relation to translations: if somebody offers me a nice temporary assignment for an X amount... And as a small freelancer I am of course always open to assignments that have no relation to translations: if somebody offers me a nice temporary assignment for an X amount of hours per week I will certainly consider it if I like the idea. I am very fond of start-ups and it wouldn't be the first time that I informally am involved with a new company, although I always link that involvement to possible translation assignments further down the road. ▲ Collapse | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 21:17 Spanish to English + ... | No, but I'm going to stop offering some. | Dec 28, 2010 |
I've decided to stop offering transcription services because it's just not worth it given how much I've come to hate it. Also, the number of editing/proofreading jobs I take on might be significantly reduced due to some bad experiences I've had recently (e.g. clients requesting proofreading of a text that actually needs to be re-translated). -C.S. | |

No - I'm a translator - I translate (and proofread others' translations). I have no plans to change my profession for the foreseeable future. | | | Adnan Özdemir Türkiye Local time: 22:17 Member (2007) German to Turkish + ... Yes tambien but, | Dec 28, 2010 |

Like Adnan, I will focus on editing my latest novel. There will - at this point in time - be no additional services, but I will promote the editorial "department" stronger. I hope to branch out into new subject areas. I have found some nice, well-paying clients in areas that I haven't emphasized in the past. I intend to cultivate them. And as for the service I will be dropping: slave labor, otherwise known 'proofreading'. Like Crystal, I will be lowering the boom for good. That has been my policy for the last few years, but I recently relented and sorely regretted my decision. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: With the new year, are you planning to introduce any new services?
