Bio
With my time split between writing, editing, translation, and foreign language study, I'm so lucky that I can make a career out of being a language enthusiast.

I graduated with distinction from Concordia University with a BA specialization in French to English translation. During my time at Concordia, I was selected to be a member of the Institute for Co-operative Education and completed three semester-long work terms in translation, where I worked in the private and public sectors. I then went on to work for one of the co-op employers after graduation.

To make up for my purely Anglophone upbringing in Canada and the UK, I have spent all but a few months of my entire adult life living in regions where I get to study and practice conversing in my non-native languages every day: France, Quebec, Japan, and Mexico. Having linguistic and cultural experience that ranges from receiving university instruction in French in Montreal to working as the only foreigner in a traditional Japanese work environment, I have developed a strong ability to effectively communicate and work with a broad range of individuals with various points of view and cultural backgrounds. In short, my whole adult life has been an exercise in understanding that effective communication through translation requires deep cultural understanding and creative ability, not the simple replacement of words.

In addition to translation, I am also passionate about creative writing, and have had fiction published in Dragnet literary magazine as well as the Dragnet Anthology.
