Hi. Feb 9, 2007

First of all: You must know if you can do that. Voice over, voice off, dubbing are not simple questions. I assume you can read in Somali, of course, but that's not all:

1.- To read is almost an art: breathing, speed, pauses, exclamations, your "voice level" (young, serious, whatever) must indeed be considered.

2.- To read in a recording studio (if you're are going to do it that way) is quite rude: you'll surely be afraid of the microphone, the engineer behind the glass

3.- Normaly, voice over recording are not paid by word, but by program minute and, in this case, an "exotic" language indeed, are more well paid. I coulnd't suggest a rate for the U.S., though.

I wish you good luck.

are often negotiable, especially when it comes to such a rare language like yours. You can offer half day/day rates, for instance
$ 700/half day and $ 1100 for a full day--if you are a professional voice-over artist. If not, you can ask for less and have to "play your rate by ear". Then, if you don't have a studio, don't forget to mention that you would have to book one, a studio hour with engineer goes for about $ 100/hour. Besides that, the link that Jemo provided is also a very useful one; and Juan has his points as well.

My 2 cents Feb 9, 2007

Recently, I have been approached by someone working for an agency based in the US and from what he has told me about rates, their rate for European voice talents is of 80€/hour of recorded material.
