...as it is worded; if hospitals (maternity etc.) were intende, they should have been added.
In the UK, there are still a fair proportion of confinements at home, I believe, and the midwife will attend the expactant mother there; in the same way, there are carers here in Germany who visit the lederly or others who cannot care for themselves at the homes.
In any case private (nursing) and (maternity) homes would normally have their own staff for these duties...

Perhaps that should have read "elderly"...
