Is this a vial, or a bottle, a mini-bottle, a ready-to-drink vial/bottle?

Thank you very much,

Again, this was not a typical KudoZ translation question, where you can separate and grade answers as to correctness, time, etc., but rather every single contribution and general discussion were much appreciated. Thank you!
MMUlr (asker) Feb 26, 2006:
Well, I need a term which will be understood in every country (by English-speaking people) ... saying that there is "ready to drink" liquid in it, and it has to be clear without an image.
MMUlr (asker) Feb 26, 2006:
Yes, I chose CH-alpha (they name it "vial", indeed, I know), but it was only an example image the kind of liquid container I was looking for, and my question has nothing to do with Gelita products - however, to me it is a strong trend if CH-alpha in the US calls the container "vial" ....
Jack Doughty Feb 26, 2006:
I see the company itself calls it a vial. This is from the webpage you give:
How long should I take CH-Alpha?
Drink one vial of CH-Alpha daily.
MMUlr (asker) Feb 26, 2006:
Maybe I should add that this "tube", obviously made of brown plastic, has a screw-on cap, you open it and drink right from it.

a vial/ready to drink vial

It is too small for a bottle.

agree Rachel Fell : vial - it's the wrong shape for a bottle (no neck); "vial" used a lot for this type of substance

Thank you
agree Michael Barnett : Vial is clearly the correct answer, given the function and the context, even though it may be shaped like a "tube".

agree jccantrell : Depends on the size, in my opinion. Not a bottle, but they only give '10g' as the measure. it might be 10 g of the solid in 10 l of liquid. But from the size, I would go with vial.

none of the above

To me, it doesn't look like any of those things. I would call it a tube (perhaps specifying it in some way as a glass tube or a rigid plastic tube).

Thank you, but from other comments on this page and the use of "vial" on the firm's page, I am coming to think that vial is acceptable, though personally I would still call it a tube.

Vial

Based on the following definitions, it is definately not a bottle. It seems to me the difference between a tube and a vial is its size. I would call it a vial unless it is fairly large in size.

Tube = A hollow cylinder, especially one that conveys a fluid or functions as a passage.

Vial = A small container, usually with a closure, used especially for liquids

Bottle = A receptacle having a narrow neck, usually no handles, and a mouth that can be plugged, corked, or capped

vial

if you do 'ctrl+F' for 'vial' on same very page you'll find:

How long should I take CH-Alpha?
Drink one vial of CH-Alpha daily. Study results show positive effects after 60 to 90 days.
