family practice

I thought of family physician from the above context, but since FP is followed by Pedi (Pediatrics) and IM (Internal Medicine), I guessed it's not a profession, but rather the area of speciality.

agree Andy Carr : Could still be Family Practitioner, impersonal references are common in medecine and there's quite a bit of mix and match with people being referred to as their speciality. It frequently doesn't matter since the contraction suits either role or speciality
