pat question - pat answer

English Marketing Linguistics survey
not a lot of context - the author says that asking 'pat questions' leads to getting 'pat answers' in a survey

Does pat mean poor? is it an acronyme? something to do with football?

readily produced was given in MSN Encarta but I meant to use ready-made and the asker understood that it fitted his context. That is what matters
Peer comment(s):

neutral RHELLER : ready-made (not readily made)- why are we seeing French in English monolingual?

I meant ready, sorry. But your comment is so square. You see French cause I also use my brains and thought the asker is likely working into French and that could be helpful. It is what matters no ? Since when do we need rules so badly ? Sorry to read that

agree Tony M : Yes, the 'glib' idea is probably quite important here; often a key to asking leading questions that will elicit exactly the answer you want.

PAT questions also appear to be the name given to basic questions asked in standard questionnaires.
Yet, in your context, I beleibe my colleagues\'s answers are probably it.
