English term

V-C area

English Science Agriculture
"Certified peanut seeds are planted 4‐5cm deep, one every 5‐10cm in the SE and SW, and 10‐15cm in the V‐C area."

I guess SE and SW are South-East and South-West but what is V-C area?

As I stated earlier, the national quota is set without regard to type. Historically, the demand for peanuts produced in the Virginia/Carolina region has been greater than the V/C quota established. During the past 10 years, the average buy back in the V/C area has been 15,800 tons per year. The availability of these peanuts has given stability to the market for the Virginia-type peanuts. It has protected the consumer from price fluctuation. These buy back pounds have not displaced quota; however, in years where losses have occurred in other areas, the V/C co-op has sent our profits to cover their losses.

Virginia - Carolina area

There are several regions in the states that are most favorable for growing peanuts. One is called the V C area, or Virginia - Carolina.

There are a lot of articles about peanuts that refer to the V C area crops. A google search of 'peanut crops v c area' will yield good results.

Virginia/Carolina area

In the U.S. these are the major peanut producing states:
VIRGINIA, NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA, GEORGIA
FLORIDA, ALABAMA, TEXAS, OKLAHOMA, NEW MEXICO

These states are grouped into three regions. The Georgia-Florida-Alabama region (Southeast) grows mostly the medium-kernel Runner peanuts. The Southwest region (Texas-Oklahoma-New Mexico) grows Spanish and Runner. The Virginia-Carolinas area grows mostly the large-kernel Virginia type peanut. About 55% of all U. S. peanuts are grown in the Southeast, with the Virginia/Carolina area accounting for 14% and the Southwest, about 30%.
