Es geht hier um einen Text aus dem Bereich CNC Maschinen und diese Abkürzung *o/p*
bereitet mir Schwierigkeiten:f

"Assume that Tool is at position C. A - D is job length; B is nearest point outside the job at which the linear transducer gives "abs pulse o/p".
Proposed translations (Deutsch)

Change log

Nov 30, 2014 09:09: Steffen Walter changed "Field (write-in)" from "CNC Maschinen" to "CNC-Maschinen"

Dec 11, 2014 11:18: Ines R. changed "Edited KOG entry" from "<a href="/profile/57687">Ines R.'s</a> old entry - "siehe Text"" to ""Ausgang""

Discussion

Johannes Gleim Dec 11, 2014:
Bitte Glossareintrag anpassen. Gewählt wurde "Ausgang" nicht als Übersetzung von "siehe Text", sondern von "o/p".
Johannes Gleim Nov 29, 2014:
I found this reference, too, but did not cite it, as O/P is not explained or specified elsewhere in the book. I found further links with this abbreviation without explanation and got the impression that it may refer to anything else like "operting pulse". // Further research confirmed the previous assumption "output".
Rolf Keller Nov 29, 2014:
Output Der Satz findet sich hier:
http://media.oemt.de/Pearl_v3-en.pdf

Aus dem Handbuch dort wird klar, was gemeint ist: "Output". Siehe insbesondere Seite 145.

Wörtlich übersetzen kann dieses Handbuch allerdings schlecht, es ist in "shop language" geschrieben.

Ausgang

Anscheinend steht "O/P" (eigentlich grossgeschrieben) für "output.

Impulsausgang wäre mein Vorschlag hier.

2. Relay six output : (page 37) in this mode in pulse type output mode sensitivity settings define the time for the relay output pulse generated on crossing of set point.
:
Assume that Tool is at position C. A - D is job length; B is nearest point outside the job at which the linear transducer gives abs pulse o/p. (page 56)
:
A. Latch type 6 relay outputs: (page 140)
In this function, when invoked the relay is off, and once the set point is achieved for the programmed relay and selected axis, the relay is turned on.

Relay1 o/p type :- Level Type
:
B. Pulse type (page 141)
In this mode a relay pulse is generated every time the set point is achieved

Any relay can be activated in any mode (latch or pulse) for any axis at any time.

“O/P” may designate “operating pulse” or “output”. Countercheck:

PSF21x, Programmable Flow Meter/Switch with Pulse O/P
:
This model has pulse an NPN alarm outputs. The alarm output can be programmed to activate when either of the programmable alarm limits is reached. The pulse output provides TTL pulses for flow measurement with a sensitivity of 6000 pulses per litre. PSF21x can be used as a flow meter, ON/OFF flow controller, or alarm unit suitable for water treatment and other applications.

5 Digital I/P/ PWM O/P/ Digital O/P (no open detect.) I/O

Conclusion: Output is correct.

o/p

non relay means transistor Sink/Source o/p. this type of o/p has limited current handling capacity and normally used as high speed o/p (pulse train ) to run servo or stepper and also in low rating relay energizing.

relay o/p is used in application where we have to pickup contactor or want to switch high woltage 230v ac etc.. this type of o/p is not used as high speed o/p.

I've occasionally seen the abbreviations "O/P" and "I/P" used in a context where it can be inferred they mean "output" and "input" respectively. However, in years of doing electronics work (in the US) I've never actually encountered these particular abbreviations until recently on this site.
Example question: BJT Amplifier I/P O/P
Are these abbreviations common in other regions or languages? Should they be edited to conform to an English StackExchange site?

I personally don't like them. Is it really so much effort to strike 2 or 3 more keys to have a clear message that everybody understands? I think this is especially true for people that don't have English as their native language. On the other hand: Could I personally be bothered to edit a text only for this reason? Probably n
