Ganz einfach, denn entweder entspricht eine Festplatte der ATA-Norm oder nicht, aber "ATA-kompatibel" kann sie eigentlich nicht sein.
ATA steht für "Advanced Technology Attachments" und ist eine Norm für das Anschlussprotokoll von Geräten wie Festplatten, CD-ROM-Geräte usw. Mittlerweile gibt es Weiterentwicklungen dieses Standards wie SATA (Serial ATA).
