This is from a museum guide describing an antique 8-lobed cup:
"This silver gilt cup is an example of a Persian-style vessel that was extremely popular in China at this time. It has 8 lobes that have been hammered out of a single oval sheet of silver. The 6 lobed foot would have been hammered out seperately and then soldered in place."
Unfortunately I haven't received the promised pictures yet, but from what I've found on the web it seems to be a vessel that - when you look from above - looks like a flower. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a German equivalent. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

nur als Denkanstoss: Ear lobe ist die Ohrmuschel und dieser Becher hat anscheinend Wölbungen (was auch zum Hämmern passt..)
