A specimen subsequently selected from the paratypes to serve as the holotype in the absence of the bona fide holotype. A single specimen subsequently selected from a cotype or syntype series; equivalent of a holotype.

Lektotipi është një ekzemplar tipik apo element i zgjedhur për të përfaqësuar në nomenklaturë një specie apo një nënspecie kur nuk ekziston holotipi përfaqësues.<br />Lektotipi duhet të zgjidhet midis izotipave; nëse nuk ekzistojnë izotipa ai duhet zgjedhur midis sintipave. Nëse as ata nuk ekzistojnë atëhere duhet zgjedhur një neotip.
