Inge Dijkstra Oct 1, 2007:
The provided link does not work when the comma is included! Sorry for the typo!
Inge Dijkstra Oct 1, 2007:
If you have a look at this Kudoz-entry (my question last year): http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1347849, you may find some other useful answers. I have translated a number of the specialisations you have mentioned above myself, so if I can be of any help there?
Jo Simons (X) (asker) Oct 1, 2007:
I'm afraid I do not have any context about the practical elements of the course, it is merely referred to as part of a brochure detailing specialisations available to both courses (HBO maatschappelijk werk en dienstverlening and sociaal pedagogisch hulpverlening) in the 4th year. The specialisations seem to be theoretical rather than practical. These are: Specialisatie Gedwongen Hulpverlening (Dwang en Drang)
Specialisatie Samenlevingsopbouw
Specialisatie Casemanagement
Specialisatie Rehabilitatie
Specialisatie Ambulante Begeleiding in de thuissituatie
Specialisatie Werken met Groepen

Many thanks to all for your suggestions so far.

Does this course refer to practical work in the field?

social and community work

I asked this question in May last year; unfortunately, I cannot retrace the Kudoz number; moreover, there was no entry in the KOG, since I closed the question without grading.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Dear Inge Many thanks for all your help. In the end I went with 'Socio-educational Care Work' but am awarding the points to you as you really provided some excellent suggestions. I think the term is still open to debate so I won't enter it into the glossary at this point. Best wishes Jo"

Dutch term (edited): sociaal pedagogisch hulpverlening

socio-educational services

This comes up more than with pedagogical on Google.
Peer comment(s):

agree Tina Vonhof (X) : I would suggest socio-educational counselling (since it is a course, not a service).
