Many thanks for all your help. In the end I went with 'Socio-educational Care Work' but am awarding the points to you as you really provided some excellent suggestions. I think the term is still open to debate so I won't enter it into the glossary at this point.

Individual and Family Counseling and Mental Health Services
Goal: To assist youth and families in Southeast Seattle by providing community based, culturally sensitive, diversified services that facilitate and empower youth to make healthy life choices.
Client Population: Any youth ages 2 through 20, and his/her family, who works, resides or attends school in Southeast Seattle is eligible for services. The youth served are of culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds, and often live in single parent households.
Services Offered: Individual counseling, family counseling and mental health services are offered in this program. Sessions are structured to address problems including family conflict, offensive behavior, physical/sexual/emotional abuse, suicidal thoughts/threats, depression, school problems, teen pregnancy and parenting, drug and alcohol abuse and related problems, peer dificulties, unemployment, and self-esteem related issues. Counseling can be provided at the agency, at school, at the client's home, or other agreed upon locations. Advocacy on behalf of the youth with schools, legal entities, DSHS and other service systems is provided as needed. Referrals and crisis intervention is also provided as needed.
