Perhaps, although I get the impression that the context refers to manouvering the weapon into firing position. 'Advancing device' would cover this better, in my opinion. I certainly don't agree with Vic's peer comment in this regard.

Recoil
"Reminrichting" is, I think, the device that absorbs the recoil when the canon is fired. So perhaps the "recoil action" might be the solution. Not sure about "vooruit" bit. Hope it is of use.

Just found this reference that might be of use:
"Characteristics of Recoil and Recuperator Systems" IF (if) the Dutch text is referring to the recoil and return of the gun barrel this may apply. Jack could be right with how the gun is manouvered. Difficult.
