Dutch term

daar geen inkomsten uit derft

Dutch to English Law/Patents Law: Taxation & Customs
This is to do with a person who is accounting where his money comes from. He has a job on the side that he makes money from and then says:
Hij heeft een eigen bedrijf maar daar geen inkomsten uit derft.
I'm not quite sure what he means. By the way, the 'eigen bedrijf' and the job on the side are not related.

Grammar You're right about the grammar, sorry, my fault. You're correct in thinking that it is reported speech: Hij zegt dat hij een eigen bedrijf heeft maar daar geen inkomsten uit derft.

does not get an income from it

I agree with Vixen's grammatical correction, but not with her translation/interpretation of the sentence in this context. Although according to the dictionary 'derven' indeed translates to 'miss out on', in spoken language Dutch people regularly tend to misuse this word. When someone says "ik derf geen inkomsten uit mijn bedrijf", he usually means to say that he does not make any money of it. Therefor, I would translate this sentence to: He says he has a company of his own, but does not get an income from it.

loss of income

Inkomstenderving is loss of income. The sentence as such does not make much sense, however. Probably a word or phrase missing.

miss out on income

Derven in this context means 'mislopen'.
In other words, he does not miss out on any income from his own business as a result of his other job.

As Jarry rightly pointed out, the sentence is not gramatically correct. It should be probably be either:
Hij heeft een eigen bedrijf maar derft daar geen inkomsten uit.
or
Hij zegt dat hij een eigen bedrijf heeft maar daar geen inkomsten uit derft.
