Dutch term

dochter Vlot & Zot

Dutch to English Other Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
This is a description of the different characters in a proposed TV show (Flemish). This teenage girl lives in a holiday park owned by her father and works there in the summer as a chambermaid. Her mother abandoned them when the girl was very young so she's close to her father and very mature and independent for her age. This year she's decided to keep the fact that she's the boss' daughter a secret so she doesn't get any special treatment.

In a wild attempt to find a rhyming solution (sort of), I have 'a daft grafter of a daughter'' but it sounds a bit - er - daft to me. I'm not sure what the idea is behind the source phrase.

It's nice to see some really good context for a change! I never knew that Dutch people wear their hearts on their tongues - ours are on our sleeves, which makes less sense.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Tough choice, as feisty seems to sum up her character to a T, brainy and zany has the rhyme advantage, but this one appealed to me straight away as being just a little off the wall. Thanks for all the great suggestions - spoilt for choice!"
