comment on a play
This is a comment from the panel of judges of the Theaterfestival 2011, for which the play "Gregoria", adapted by Meuleman, has been selected.
“Gregoria is een ijkpunt in het werk van Bart Meuleman, een voorstelling die beklijft door zijn vorm en hoge afwerkingsgraad.”
Don't think "finish" covers it - "craftsmanship" perhaps? Any other suggestions?

attention to detail
This might be an option that suggests the same as 'finish' without actually using that word (which I agree wouldn't really suit this context).

: with Machteld. I think it means that the production in itself took great care as well as the actors to leave nothing technical to accident.

High degree of refinement
Considering the type of work involved to achieve this (redactie, peinzen, bijschaven), I would consider 'refinement' - and, thus, to a considerable/high degree - to be an appropriate translation that captures the essence of the reviewer's comment effectively.

: 'production that will be remembered for (or something) ...... its high degree of refinement' 'degree of refinement' seems to me accurate and straightforward

Example sentence:
...making the company the only one in the country offering free TV with such frequency, high production level and entertainment quality.
If a film looks good and has a high production standard in terms of picture, sound, set dressing etc it is definitely a plus and I put great value into that in any film that I direct...

(finished) pefection
Having read the review you are translating I think it might be something like
a performance that makes a lasting impression shaped by its (finished/polished) perfection.
