Is there an English term for birësoj and birësim?
Fjalorthi.com: birës/ój folje kalimtare; -óva, -úar term në drejtësi; e bëj bir a bijë në shpirt.
I need something different from adoption, because what I have is a list of conditions where adoption also is mentioned. Being a godfather?

guardianship/foster
There are many terms but for each one there is a difference from the legal perspective.
For example, adoption is permanent, guardianship is temporary, and foster is simply the care given to another without any legal rights.

Fosterage, Fostering, Naturalizing, Raising, Taking in
birësoj translates as a son (bir), and the suffix (-soj) means to make mine, my kind. Therefore, it is translated as 'to make my son or my daughter, or any other gender.' The term 'bir' has the meaning 'child' sometimes.
It is translated best as fostered, fostering.
Fostering definition: bring up (a child that is not one's own by birth).
"a person who would foster Holly was found."

Example sentence:
Unë kam një djalë, një fëmijë dy vjeç, që e ka birësuar një familje e panjohur, sepse të atin nuk ia njihte njeri dhe e ëma vdiq gjatë lindjes.
I have a son, a two-year-old child, who was adopted by an unknown family, because no one knew his father and his mother died during childbirth.

adopt/adoption
I don't think that there is another word for birësoj and birësim. There is a big difference between fostering that is often temporary (with placements lasting anywhere between a few days to several years), and adoption that is typically a permanent solution.
