Hi all, i am translating a balance sheet manual in which it contains definitions of balance sheet accounts. however i did not find the English term for this account ( حسابات للذكر ). i came across it twice:

حسابات خارج الميزانية تتضمن الأتي:
1- التزامات محتملة
2- الضمانات المستلمة / موجودات محتملة القبض
3- التعامل بالمشتقات المالية
4- حسابات للذكر

حسابات للذكر: يتضمن هذا الحساب جميع العمليات التي يقوم بها المصرف فيها بدور الوسيط دون ان يترتب عليه اية مخاطر ائتمانية او مخاطر سوق، كما يتضمناية معلومات تفصيلية قد يتطلب المصرف الافصاح عنها

i think it is either a Lebanese or Syrian term. any one from Lebanon or Syria?

In this financial statement by the Syrian-Commercial Development Bank, the Arabic حسابات للذكر / خارج الميزانية is rendered in English as "Off-balance shrrt items" (shrrt typo for sheet), which, I realise, is the term for حسابات خارج الميزانية but it seems to be one and the same thing.

Off-balance sheet items:
Obligations that are contingent liabilities of a bank, and thus do not appear on its balance sheet. In general, off-balance sheet items include the following: direct credit substitutes in which a bank substitutes its own credit for a third party, including standby letters of credit; irrevocable letters of credit that guarantee repayment of commercial paper or tax-exempt securities; risk participations in bankers' acceptances; sale and repurchase agreements; and asset sales with recourse against the seller; interest rate swaps; interest rate options and currency options, and so on.

As in my first answer, I managed to mis-write the Bank's name!!! Of course it's Syrian-Lebanese Commercial Bank!
