What is your average output?

It really depends on the quality of your text, the information you have provided about your project (style guide, glossary, purpose, audience etc...), and whether your document is for wide circulation or publication.

It usually ranges between 1500 words per day to 3000 words per day.

What is your quality assurance process?

Translated documents are proofread three times, after having run the spell checker of course: twice on screen (once for content and writing style, once for typographical mistakes and punctuation verification), and a third time from a printed copy.

In your project planning, it is recommended to factor in 24 hours during which the translation can be set aside before final hard copy proofing. A fresh eye is key to spotting small errors able to hide in a text one has worked on intensely.

If your text is to be published and widely disseminated, we urge you to plan for an independent proofreader. If you are working with an agency, make sure that this is part of your contract. If we are working directly, I will be happy to manage that part of your project.

Are you willing to do a free test translation?

No. The reasons are very simple. You wouldn't ask your plumber to fix your leaky faucet to make sure he/she is competent. A free test is no proof of the translator's ability as you have no real way of knowing who actually did the translation unless you watch them do it. Your time is valuable, so is mine, both are running businesses.

I will be happy to do a paid test, however, if this can reassure you before entrusting me with a larger project. My minimum billing rate is 50€.

Do you give discounts for matches?

No. Again, the reason is simple. Matches, even exact matches, can well be inaccurate or inappropriate translations. I still have to take the time to verify context, guard against clumsy repetitiveness, insure your text reads smoothly, and type in the words anyway.

Do you have general conditions of sale?

Yes, as should any business. I will be happy to send them to you upon request. And they are available on my website.

Are you a member in good standing of one of the principal professional organization and do you have professional liability insurance?
Yes, I am a member of SFT and my insurance is with Gras Savoye.
