Sino Congo Resources sarl (“SCR”) is a company registered in the Republic of Congo (ROC) and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Brilliant Ventures Asia Ltd (“BVAL”) a company registered in Hong Kong.
SCR holds a number of Prospecting Permits for iron-ore located in the Mossendjo-Vouka-Mayoko area, Niari District, about 400 km northwest of Brazzaville, and 300 km northeast of the deep sea-port Pointe-Noire.
During November 2011-early 2012 SCR has carried out an airborne geophysical survey over a large area covered by prospect permits Mandoro-Bikelele- Yaya and Mbaya at 1000 m line spacing with in-fills areas at 250 m spacing in the zones of immediate interest. The flight lines were orientated SE-NW, normal to the geological structural fabric.
The aeromagnetic survey has identified several significant magnetic anomalies that indicate the presence of substantial iron deposits, some of which have been confirmed by ground magnetic surveys and rock samples assaying up to 62% Fe. The most significant is the anomaly from Bikelele, near the small town of Mossendjo.
Republic Of Congo Country Background
The West African Republic of Congo (ROC) has a population of 3.8 million (UN, 2008) and covers an area of 342,000 sq. km (Fig. 1). ROC was previously a French colony and gained independence in 1960.
The capital city is Brazzaville and the major languages spoken are French and indigenous African languages. The dominant religion is Christianity.
Congo’s main industry is petroleum. With estimated proven reserves of 1.5 billion barrels, ROC is sub-Saharan Africa's fifth largest oil producer after Nigeria, Angola, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea.
The majority of ROC crude oil production is located offshore and is heavily reliant on foreign personnel and technology.
The specialist risk consultancy firm, Control Risks, has rated the Republic of the Congo as one of the lowest risk countries in Africa based on both security and political risk.
Location, Access and Physiography
The project is located in a remote jungle area of the Congo Republic, approximately 300 km northeast of Pointe Noire in the Niari Department. The project lies about 350 km northwest of the national capital Brazzaville. The small city of Mossendjo, situated in the south west of the perimeters is the administrative center of the District.
The dirt road Dolisie/Mossendjo/M’Binda and the COMILOG railway also pass near the town of Mossendjo. The population is concentrated in the surroundings of / along the national road and the railway with an average population density of 2 inhabitants per km².
The local topography is rugged with steep slopes and incised drainages and elsewhere more gentle with eroded plateau. Elevation ranges between 600 - 840 m above sea level.
The area is characterized by a dense drainage network with the main river being the Louessé, which is a major tributary of the Niari River; the main tributaries of the Louessé are the Lépia, Babéné and Lehala rivers.
The climate is tropical equatorial with two rainy seasons (the beginning of February – end of March and the beginning of October – end of December) and two dry periods (beginning of June – end of September and the month of January). The annual rainfall reaches 1,800 mm.
The natural vegetation is an equatorial rainforest with a large variety of species of trees. The wealth of the region has traditionally been in its timber, which was the object of intensive forestry in the past and is still exploited in some parts of the perimeter.
The main occupation of the inhabitants is the traditional agriculture, the farming of cassava and peanuts and hunting. Construction materials in the area include laterite, which is quarried in many locations and used for road surfacing.
Small scale, artisanal, gold mining also occurs from mostly alluvial deposits in the region.

Les levés aéromagnétiques ont identifié plusieurs importantes anomalies magnétiques qui indiquent la présence de gisements de fer considérables, dont certaines ont été confirmés par les levés magnétiques au sol et des échantillons de roches, allant jusqu'à 62% de fer. La plus importante est l'anomalie de Bikelele, près de la petite ville de Mossendjo.

La majorité de la production de pétrole brut de la RC est réalisée en mer et est fortement tributaire du personnel étranger et de la technologie étrangère.
La société de conseil spécialiste du risque, Control Risks, a classé la République du Congo comme l'un des pays présentant les plus faibles de risque en Afrique, s’agissant notamment des risques de sécurité et politiques.
Localisation, accès et physiographie
Le projet est situé dans une zone de jungle éloignée de la République du Congo, à environ 300 km au nord-est de Pointe-Noire dans le département du Niari. Le projet se situe à environ 350 km au nord-ouest de Brazzaville la capitale. La petite ville de Mossendjo, située dans le sud-ouest des périmètres est le centre administratif du district.
La route non goudronnée Dolisie / Mossendjo / M’Binda et le chemin de fer COMILOG passent également près de la ville de Mossendjo. La population se concentre dans les environs de / le long de la route nationale et la voie ferrée, elle est d’environ 2 habitants par km².
La topographie locale est accidentée avec des pentes abruptes et des drainages incisées et d’autre part plus plane avec un plateau érodé. L’altitude varie entre 600 – 840 m au-dessus de la mer.
Cette région est caractérisée par un réseau de drainage dense avec pour principale rivière le Louessé, qui est un affluent majeur du fleuve Niari, les principaux affluents de la Louessé sont les rivières Lépia, Babéné et Lehala.
Le climat est de type équatorial tropical avec deux saisons des pluies (début février – fin Mars et début octobre - fin décembre) et deux saisons sèches (début juin - fin septembre et au mois de janvier). Les précipitations annuelles atteignent 1800 mm.
La végétation naturelle est une forêt équatoriale avec une grande variété d'espèces d'arbres. La richesse de cette région a toujours été son bois, qui a fait l'objet d'une intense exploitation dans le passé et reste encore exploité dans certaines parties du périmètre.
Les principales activités des habitants sont l'agriculture traditionnelle (la culture du manioc et de l'arachide) et la chasse. Les matériaux de construction dans la région comprennent la latérite, qui est exploité dans de nombreux endroits et utilisé comme revêtement routier.
L’exploitation aurifère artisanale à petite échelle se produit également dans la plupart des gisements alluvionnaires de la région.
