Mapping Language Rights in a Digital World

Hosted by: Global Coalition for Language Rights

www.coalitionforlanguagerights.org

The goal of our session is to engage in dialogue with diverse stakeholders whose work is impacted by matters relating to linguistic diversity and language barriers to critical information and services. We aim to learn about and map out the complex ways in which linguistic and digital rights intersect, and start forging a collaborative path forward by expanding our coalition with key input from session participants. From rethinking language and digital access in relation to humanitarian response and crisis communication, education, labour rights and economic opportunities, to creating a Language Digitization Roadmap for underrepresented languages, or supporting the localization of internet freedom technologies that improve security, digital literacy and anonymity online, we are seeking community input on ideas and best practices for advocating for language inclusivity in parallel with digital rights.
