testify, as if stated orally Explanation: "testify, as if stated orally" is an expression that can be used in US legal EN when someone submits a written affidavit as a substitute for live testimony in court. However, I don't know whether that is the situation here. |

declares his intent to confirm, and indeed confirms, Explanation: My take on the context is that the lawyer is being asked to confirm his expert report before the court. I.e. Mr. Lawyer do you intend to confirm before us today the contents of your extensive expert report? Yes, your honor, I hereby confirm the report and declare my intention to stand by the contents thereof. It may be that the court is giving him the option to make a correction for the record if necessary. Otherwise, he will be held liable for the contents of the report and in theory can be sued if the report contains any errors that result in harm to the parties. |
